Raven’s Roads is the blog, e-zine and writing pages for author and freelance writer, Linda Raven Moore. The original site rose out of the ashes of a much-planned and much-failed month-long riding trip. I had planned to go to the 2003 Women on Wheels® annual ride-in the long way round - from California to Colorado, then back via Arizona and home. I had wanted to ride for a month, and turn it into a book. It would have been fantastic. My poor bike, Arnie the 1000cc Virago, had other plans. My departure was scheduled for June 18th 2003, a Wednesday. On Sunday 15th, while riding to REI to pick out a tent and sleeping bag, there was a nasty jolt and I lost first gear. It meant only one thing: I was not going on my trip. I had set up a site to back myself up and plan the trip, to let my friends and anyone who happened upon it follow the excitement. But once the trip was off, there was a whole lot of anticipation and energy that had to go somewhere. After the initial wailing and gnashing of teeth, I turned Raven’s Roads into a site to share my adventures and writing.
